The James Clemens girls soccer team closed the door on cross town rival Bob Jones, defeating the Patriots 3-1 in the class 7A quarterfinals on Friday night. The Patriots scored with 8 seconds left in the first half to tie the game at 1 all at the half. The Jets netted two goals while shutting out Bob Jones in the second half. The Jets avenge losses of 1-0 and 2-1 to Bob Jones in the regular season and improve their overall record to 12-4-2.
With the win, the Jet girls will advance to the AHSAA state tournament in Huntsville for the second straight year. The Jets will play Vestavia Hills at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 10 at John Hunt Park. The Jets faced the Rebels last season in the semi finals and lost 2-1. Vestavia went on to win the class 7A state championship.
