James Clemens had never topped cross town rival Bob Jones in the football contest known as the Madison Bowl in the six previous meetings since James Clemens split from Bob Jones in 2012. Three of the last four meetings had been decided by less than one possession (8 pts) and had often come down to the last minutes. James Clemens came into the contest after two losses to two of the better teams in the state, then #2 7A Thompson and #2 6a Clay Chalkville. Bob Jones had defeated two out of state teams in Christian Brothers (TN) and Mainland (FL). In this year’s contest, year #7 proved to be lucky as Jamil Muhammad (wearing jersey #7) and the James Clemens offense wore down the Bob Jones defenders with 435 yards rushing en route to a 36-20 win at Madison City Schools Stadium. Muhammad would rush for four scores, and throw for another. The Jets scored 22 unanswered points in the second half and held the Patriots inside the Jet 10 yard line inside the last minute as the Pats tried desperately to mount a miraculous comeback.
