For the second year in a row, the Jets softball team failed to advance out of one of the toughest area tournaments in the state. The Jets fell to defending state champion Buckhorn on Wednesday 4-3, surrendering all 4 runs as unearned runs following a flurry of uncharacteristic errors. The Jets rebounded and eliminated rival Bob Jones 13-3 on Thursday, advancing to a rematch with the Bucks, who were defeated by #1 ranked Sparkman in the winner’s bracket game the night before. The Bucks jumped out to a 3-0 lead before an Eve Mallard solo blast to left center closed the gap to 3-1. The Jets rallied in the fifth inning to tie the game 3-3 only to see Buckhorn pull away in the sixth to a final of 5-3. Sparkman would go on to defeat Buckhorn for the Area 8 title.
The Jets finished the season with a 28-15 record on the season.
