Congratulations to the JAMES CLEMENS / LIBERTY CROSS COUNTRY TEAM on their performance in the JESSE OWENS Cross Country Meet held at Oakville Indian Mounds Park on Saturday October 7, 2017. The JESSE OWENS CLASSIC is the Largest Meet in Alabama and one of the largest meets in the Nation. Over 200 teams competed along with over 3000 athletes.  James Clemens had three teams place in the top 10; Six ELITE RUNNERS; and 14 Personal Records.

James Clemens Cross Country program was led by VARSITY Jenna Shereyk’s awesome individual performance. She broke the 5K 20:00 barrier for the first time this season. Jenna also was in the top 10 overall out of 260 runners. She was awarded a top 10 medal and an ALL ELITE runner shirt. She ran 44 seconds better than any of her efforts this season on the STATE MEET course. This performance will go a long way in leading our JC girls team to the STATE MEET.

GIRLS VARSITY competed in the SILVER CHAMPIONSHIP Division against Thirty six  (5A- 7A) Teams from Alabama; Tennesee; Georgia; and Mississippi and 260 runners.

AJ Sheldrick led the Jets with his 2nd time under the 18:00 5K barrier this season with a 17:59.

They finished 5th Overall team out of 17 schools from Tennessee; Mississippi; Georgia; and Alabama.

JC had 2 runners named to the ALL ELITE team: Isaul Rubio Montano  and  John Mark Ingalls .

Both these runners had a photo finish sprint effort against each other to the finish line 12:18.37 to 12:18.68, with Isaul getting the lean.
